History[]
At one time, Ruby had a ferry crossing the Pend Oreille River to the eastern shore. The ferry ran by cable connected on both sides of the river which was connected to a tower and pulled by the current. Loading shoots are still seen along the Pend Oreille River in towns such as; Ione, Tiger, Blueslide. Also during the peak of development in the 1910s to the 1920s, Ruby had a general store and a gun club.
